Hi all.

I'm currently on a sponsored visa after transferring from Australia to Canada with the same company but would like any advice as to how easy/hard it is to move to a new employer? I'm originally from the UK having moved with the same company UK-AUS.

I've found that I'm vastly underpaid and would like some advice if I could move to a new employer and get sponsored by them? I've been informed that this is very difficult but that was by my current employer before moving.

I transferred inter company in a managerial capacity and have not been in the country long enough to apply for PR.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

The process is quite involved.

If you wish to switch companies you will first have to find a new employer in Canada who is willing to offer you a full time job. That employer will then have to apply for and obtain an approved LMIA (permission to hire you). If the LMIA is approved, you can then apply for a new closed work permit tied to that specific employer.

In order for your new employer to obtain an approved LMIA, they must first advertise the job for a month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. They must then pay a $1K processing fee and submit the application for processing. Processing can take anywhere from 6 to 16+ weeks.
