1. What sort of survival jobs are available
2. How quickly can one get it
3. How much CAD$ / hr will one get from such jobs
4. Are such jobs taxable
5. Can one make ends meet through such jobs alone

Minimum wage varies by province. http://canadaonline.about.com/od/labourstandards/a/minimum-wage-in-canada.htm

OP, your question varies a lot by your city. Where are you living/planning to live? If you don't know where in Canada you're going yet, we can give general advice, but in detail advice will need a final destination.

I'm looking ahead for my Studies in Toronto.
Will I be able to take up a part time job?..... Is it difficult to find a part time job?

Dear singh_king, I am not alone, we are a family of five. Can you share some figures as to how much shall I earn per month to keep my kitchen running in a city like Edmonton.

Dear amikety, can you share some details about Edmonton in this regards. Thanks

Get the training to become security guard, you need to pass provincial exam and also apply for the provincial license (it is mandatory), process will take little time but you will get a survival job that is relatively better from other survival jobs. Usual rate is 12 to 14 dollars an hour, it will be taxable but as a low income person and secondly due to your children you will get several benefits as well to start your life.
As a security guard on a night shift you can study to get a better job, moreover you will get time to apply for various jobs according to your previous experience and capabilities.
Best of luck for your efforts.
