Hey guys, so i have been a citizen of canada for almost year an half. I have travelled once to india right after my citizenship in jan 2019. I still havent surrendered my passport and have to make a another trip to india this month. I have already applied for evisa and its under process. Its taking way too long for any response from immigration department of india on my application. I am concerned that not been able to surrender my indian passport may lead to rejection. Please if anybody can answer.

Not giving up your Indian passport after denouncing Indian citizenship is an offence. Go to the nearest embassy and surrender your passport.
thing is that you ceased to be Indian citizen on the day you became Canadian citizen. Holding still valid looking (but not being valid anymore) passport will not change that fact. Trying to use your old passport especially after you have applied for visa will go south very quickly. I doubt that impersonating Indian citizen is an easy offence in India. And in such case Canada cannot help you much there.
You need to go to the Indian embassy or a consulate and surrender your passport ASAP. What you have done unwittingly is a crime and have been personating as an Indian citizen.
