Hello one and all,
I am desperately attempting to put a timeline together for my husband's application, which has been mostly formed thanks to the thread relating to the London office. However we have hit a snag recently and no one there knows how to answer me. First, a bit about our application: My husband is British born, works on oil/gas rigs on rotation (home and then away for an equal amount of 6-4 weeks) and I am Canadian born living in Cyprus, with very near plans to move back. My husband has worked in a number of middle eastern countries and due to my husband's job he has not been a consecutive resident of any nation since he was 21 (he's now 28). Though he has had a residence visa for where he has worked. However to cement the fact we live in Cyprus we gave a police check for this country (despite it not being needed) as well as one for the UK, where my husband lived until he was 21. We're going through lawyers who helped us immensely in setting up the application and the like.
When a large chunk of the F series of applications were approved last week, we got a bit of a shock. The High Commission wanted a police check for Dubai and gave us two months to obtain it. Failure to do so would result in a delay of at least four months post the two month window and could ultimately cause the whole thing to be denied. This confused us as the information that states he was not a consecutive resident is IN the paperwork in three or four different forms. Including every flight he's taken since 2004, copies of his passports (he maintains two due to work), as well as it is in our statements relating to our relationship.
So our lawyers have had us write a statement that outlines why this police check requirement for Dubai needs to be waived. They feel it's highly likely that it will be waved due to the letter we wrote, the copies of the flight stubs (which my husband has nearly everyone of since 2003) which prove it and the fact he was not a consecutive resident as the High Commission thought he was.
Bit long winded but now I can ask my question:
This has clearly added some of a delay to the processing of his visa, we have no direct communication with the HC to even ask.
Does anyone know, given the above context, any sort of an estimation of delay if we get the requirement waived? Or even where in the grand scale of things where the application is now? EG This hiccup occurred early on and we actually have 6-11 months to wait or is this later in the process and we could get approval in a shorter period of time.
Note:
Police checks are required for any nation where you've live consecutively for more than 5 months.
The Police check must be obtained in the nation in which you claim current residency. For my husband that is Cyprus (home) and I suppose Saudi (work), however it is incredibly difficult to obtain. There is NO embassy/mission/consulate for Dubai in Cyprus and through Saudi... well you're more likely to get blood out of stone than to obtain a police check via any embassy.
