Hi everyone,

I've applied for a Supervisa for both of my parents in December. A couple of weeks ago, they got requested to submit biometric data. They did it this week and just received a passport request for both parents. I thought that the next step would be the medical exam; however, it's only the passport request.

I've tried to search for similar topics, but could find only 2. In one, it was described that their parents received multivisas instead of supervisas. In the other one, the parents really received their supervisas without medical exam.

If they receive multivisas instead of supervisas, what to do?
Do border officers check the med exam in airports? Can they refuse to let the parents in because of the lack of med exam (even though we attached the SV insurance for both of the parents)?

Any thoughts on this?

If they received regular TRVs rather than super visas, then they can still visit Canada - but not for the 2 years that super visas allow.

it up to them, it will be super visa, people who want their parents for short period would prefer to have trv but they often reject trv, therefor we spend on insurance and pay medical fees and furtherance (which is often unnecessary and money minting for specialist ) and who knows if there appear spot on lungs and they carry out painful tb tests for three months, so trv is better than sv but very strong cases get trv

I applied supervisa for my mom and she got the visa without medical exam. I found it a bit strange but rolled with it. CBSA did not ask her about her medical exam when she arrived here either.
However, the supervisa she got has a much shorter duration than what stated on the website (i.e. not 10 years). Her passport is valid beyond the duration they gave her. Having no medical exam might have something to do with it, I do not know for sure.

In our case we had medical and visa was for four years, so every thing is at the discretion of VO, medical /no medical/ super visa/ trv....if VO finds that case is not very strong and not very weak but moderate then instead of rejecting super visa he may give trv....super visa it self is special trv (with insurance)

That could be it. They gave my mother 3 years without medical.

thanks for all of the answers. I'll update this thread as soon as the parent send the passports and get them back.

Hi everyone,

The parents got their passports back and apparently they received regular multi visitor visa instead of SuperVisa.

How can get the answers on why CIC decided to process their applications and give regular visitor visas instead of SuperVisas?
