Supervisa or extensión for mom

Hi everyone!
I am hoping to get some help from the experts here. I don’t know what to apply for. My mom multiple visa will expire in May 2018. But she is actually in Canada with me under a visa extension that will be expired in Feb 12,2017. My question is can I apply for a Supervisa from within Canada and how to do it? When login into her account and filled the questionnaire it only shows me the documents for an extension. But if her passport visa expires in May then that means her extension will only be given for 3 months? How can I get the documets check list for Supervisa if the questionnaire only prompts me for an extension? Would she need to leave Canada to apply for supervisa or can she do it within Canada? Please help. So confused.

I don't think she can apply SV within Canada, she can only apply for extension of stay.

Get the passport renewed first. I believe most countries let you renew passport if expiring in 6 months.

To my understanding, Supervisa can only be applied outside of Canada.

If she applied for extension, it will only be issued upto the day of her visa expires which would be May 2018. And in order for her to get a multiple entry visa is to apply out of Canada.
