Hi, my parents have a regular visitor visa, but we would like their next visit to be longer than 6 months.
We also applied last year to sponsor them (only received AOR a couple of weeks ago).
Is it an issue to apply for a supervisa on top of their valid visitor visa and their ongoing sponsorship? thanks!

No - no issue. You can go ahead and apply for a super visa as well.

Thanks. Do you know if it would be an issue to apply for the supervisa within Canada while they are here under their visitor visa?

You cannot apply for super visas from within Canada. They can only apply to extend their visitor status while on an initial TRV entry

following... my mum is on regular visa for 9 yrs... we extended her stay (so she was here for a 1yr n 3m) and will be going to india on feb 23 we want to apply for supervisa at that point but if it gets rejected would her regular visa be rejected too? if it is approved and if they only give it for 4 yrs (for example) would it then revert to her regular visa for the remaining years? Also does she need to show ties to her country... I thought I saw it on one of the pages on CIC but now I cannot find it but it doesnt show on the doc checklist or forms.

also since my mum is currently here in Canada, if she uploads all her docs in Canada as I have all the printer scanner etc... then she goes to India feb 23 and clicks submit while in India (to show she has applied from India) would that be an issue as her passport submission would go from india when she is there?

Thanks

No, it won't be cancelled.... at least that's what IRCC had replied to someone on here. But, do feel free to reconfirm before you apply for a super visa.

If a super visa is granted then her original TRV will be cancelled. Someone cannot hold two valid temporary visas simultaneously.

Yes, she must demonstrate some ties to India.

No, IRCC won't give black-and-white guidelines for this on the document checklist/forms.

She cannot apply from in-Canada for a super visa. She must apply from India/to a visa office outside Canada = Processing will be as per her outside-Canada residence address

Thanks for the reply Bryanna... on that last note... yes she would apply from india but can she apply online? she would just be scanning all docs here and then going there and applying?
