Hello everyone,
This forum has been a blessing throughout the PNP, Work permit and PR. but i think my love/hate relationship with CIC is not over yet.

My current problem is LICO calculation. So in prior year, ( for 2013) my income comes down to $29,000 only. My wife was on maternity leave and her Maternity benefit for 2013 is $9,225. Thats puts me around $39,000 But for Supervisa, required LICO is close to $44,000. Thats $5,000 difference. I worked in casino for 4 months and can easily show remaining income as Tip income, I would have to pay tax on it but i dont mind, as long as i can sponsor my mother.

My question is can i calculate wife's maternity benefit and Son's UCCB towards my LICO? Please let me knw whoever has knowlwdge about it. I havent filed my tax yet , coz if i can use my wife's maternity benefit towards LICO only then i want to add extra $5000 income and pay tax on it. otherwise it would be pointless. Please let me know as soon as possible.

Thanks

You can certainly add incomes, please note that while LICO is one of the requirements for Supervisa - it's not as strict as sponsorship - even if they feel you are short, the can still give her a regular visit visa which will let her stay for 6 months ( almost most cases ) and you can apply for 2 year ext after that or even apply for a proper supervisa ( if your situation has improved in that period - then it's a + )
See, the Supervisa has many components to satisfy, mainly that the sponsor has enough income via LICO guide but they also check mothers attachment to home country via assets, bank balance and they need to be satisfied that this is purely a visit, not a way that she would come and stay here ( which I find dumb coz they don't approve H&C grounds and a parent w/o MSP and pvt insurance would be a nightmare but that's another topic )
She would also need to buy insurance and do meds

Good luck

Thanks User, It will help me a lot, i am going to file my taxes now and will add around $6000 as tip income just to make it to $45,000 to be on safe side. Thanks.
