Dad got a job offer and his soon to be employer will process his LMO. Phoned the CIC if he can just go to the nearest boarder and get a Work Permit and they replied that he has to send his papers back home since he is from Philippines ( not a visa exempt )..Tried to call them but I just can't get hold of them to ask if he can do the medical examination here in Canada. Anyone has the same case???Pls. Help...

I don't think so. You really have to send all the papers including the proof that you are qualified. And of course, you passport too. As far as the agent ( immigration ) told me that the processing of my dads work permit is the same as the those who are back home trying to get TWP...

I would suggest you call CIC (the toll free number in Canada). Clarify with them what I see below. I think he can apply within Canada as he satisfies :ANAN said:

Given that he is a SuperVisa holder and can stay longer in Canada (2 years/stay) - he has ample time to process the TWP. What was issued to him, a visitor record or a temporary residence permit at POE? I'd check first if he can do it in-country.

NS. Usually hindi busy ang CIC around Wed/Thurs around 2-4pm, nakakapasok naman ako, but the wait is terrible. By the time to get around to Calgary, the CIC would have been fielding calls from the Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba - so you can try calling them first hour Altantic time so you get first in-line. But it means maaga ka gigising sa inyo to catch CIC during Atlantic hours. Might be worth a try...ANAN said:Thanks Ragluf

intay ko lang passport ko then apply na ko. Sa alberta ka pala ngaun ;D jan ko balak magpunta kasi maraming job na may Lmo sbi nila.
