Hi All,
I'm applying a super visa to sponsor my mom for temporary visitor visa at the moment.
To give you brief history of what actually happened;
July 2015 - Initial application for Super Visa
Sept 2015 - Final decision made as Refused
So, we waited about a year, and then re apply for Super Visa
Aug 2016 - Second attempt to apply Super Visa
And we are still waiting for the final decision.
The question is that starting from this year, CIC kick off the eTA required for applying Super Visa, so we did it and got approved.
As we are still waiting for the decision, she wanted to visit for spending some time during the new year season.
So I checked the eTA status whether that is still valid or not; but I found some funny thing.
Application Status: Closed
A final decision has been reached: Approved
But the bottom of the page, there is a message saying
"Following an assessment of your file, it has been determined that you no longer meet the requirements for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). As a result, your eTA has been cancelled.
Your file is now closed. Should you wish to reapply for an eTA, we encourage you to do so only once you have addressed the reason(s) for the cancellation of your application. At that time, you may submit a new application at .
You are no longer considered to hold a valid eTA. As such, you should not plan or undertake any travel to Canada."
That basically tells me that the eTA that we used for applying super visa has been cancelled.
That's when I look it up with eTA number that I got during the application of Super Visa.
When I check with the application number of the super visa (starting with V), it says that the process has not started neither in CIC account.
Does any one of you guys experience this issue where the eTA is cancelled while final decision is made for Approved?
If she wants to visit Canada before the final decision is made temporarily, should I re-apply for eTA? If so, will there be any harm to the current application status (as the eTA looks liked linked with the super visa application).
Any advise or help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
