Hi everyone
My father in law just got a letter saying he's been approved for the supervisa. The letter indicated to bring it with him to travel and show to the border patrol. But there is no actual visa in his passport. Is this normal? Why would they ask for his passport initially is yhru weren't going to put a visa in it?
Thank you.

Who issued this letter? Has a travel agent given you a letter?

If his super visa was approved.... there would be a visa stamp in his passport

The letter was from The embassy saying his visa is approved but there is no visa in the passport.
I was reading if he is from a visa exempt
Country there would only be the letter and he would get the visa issued upon arrival but he is from Cairo.

Thank you, we will do that. This is the first line of the letter
your application to visit canada under the "parent and grandparent authorized period of extended stay" has been approved

Is the expenses stay visa different than the initial
One?

Did you apply online? Were you asked to submit his passport?

The super visa is a PG-1 visa.... whereas a TRV is a V-1 visa. By this letter, your father-in-law has been approved for a PG-1 visa

He applied paper not online... His passport was included with the package and was courried back with no visa just the letter. Ive been trying to upload an image of the letter but not having any luck. It basically says to bring the letter with his passport to the port of entry in canada. This just doesn't seem like the normal thing. Usually they would add it in his passport. Im also worried this will cause problems with him trying to leave Egypt as he will not have a visa if he leaves with just the letter. His passport is only valid for 18 more months so maybe this was he can renew it before coming...

It seems the visa officer has considered your father-in-law as a visa-exempt applicant. Hence, the letter (and no visa stamp in the passport).

It's best if you write to the Cairo visa office + send a CSE stating that he holds an Egyptian passport.... and will require a visa stamp in his passport to facilitate his travel and entry into Canada.

Also, if his passport is valid for only 18 months, his PG-1 visa will be valid/stamped only until the current passport expiry date

So, he has an Egyptian passport for sure?

If so, might have been a clerical error that the passport was returned without the visa stamp. Take it back to the VAC with a photocopy of the approval letter and explain the situation.
