The situation is

my parents are not working. My father stopped working two years ago due to health. But when he was working he did not file any income taxes as his salary was low. When he was working, he recieved his salary in cash, it was a private job not well paid.. So, we do not have any evidence to show.

Now when i apply super visa for them, do the income tax (not filled by them) and not working and not having salary stubs - can cause a problem?

Although, I meet the LICO and my financial condition is fine. Will that be sufficient?

Hi Priya,

1. Your dad must provide all employment details for about 10 years prior to his retirement

2. Even if his salary was low, he should have filed 'Nil Returns' when he was employed.

You're probably unaware that Income Tax authorities are now able to link foreign trips, property and vehicle purchases (they're even going through FB posts), etc..... to check if taxes filed/not filed show adequate income for someone to be able to pay for such things. Anyways

3. Even though he is retired, he must continue to file Income Tax returns for any income earned from FDs, bank balances, shares, pension funds, etc etc..... even if it is 'Nil Returns'.... You can include this for his super visa application

4. For his super visa application:
a. You can include a copy of his employment letter (does it state he was paid cash?) + the employer letter approving his resignation.

b. Was the income deposited regularly in the bank account? If yes, you must state this too.

5. The visa officer will consider the overall current financial situation of your parents.... FDs, rental income, shares, mutual funds, pension, etc..... and not just the income through employment

Cheers
