Super Visa
- Only given to Parents / Grand Parents of Canadian citizens or Permanent residents who meet the eligibility.
- multiple entry, valid for 10years and allows an individual to stay for up to 2years on initial entry after which you'll have to leave and re-enter via some border

Visitor
- given to anyone who meets eligibility.
- multiple entry, valid for 10years as well. But allows an individual to stay for only 6months on initial entry after which they should either leave and re-enter or apply for extension and pay some fee for it.

A supervisa is a TRV category PG. This TRV allows up to 2 years of continuous stay in Canada.

All other non-PG TRVs only allow up to 6 months of continuous stay in Canada.

It can be from weeks to up to 10 years or the expiry date of your passport (whichever earliest).

This is up to how solid is your application, your travel purpose and the assessment of the CIC officer handling your case.

I recently experienced that Super Visa not necessarily meaning you can stay upto 2 years. It's solely upon border agent's discretion. My mother came couple weeks before on Super Visa with 1 year of Canadian medical Insurance. She got permission to stay only upto 6 months. Border agent stamped a date and clearly instructed that she should leave Canada on or before the day stamped on her passport. Border agent informed that 2 years permission is only applied for first time and then she can stay only upto 6 months.
I am not sure if it is a new rule but if this is true then Super Visa & Multiple entry visitor visa are both same.

Hello
I am applying for my mother's super visa. I am not sure if the application form is the same as visitor visa
I have checked it but I am not certain, so I have to fill out the same application as visitor visa
They mention they need a document that proves my mother would return back home . How can I provide such a document ? Buying a ticket seems unreasonable since we don't have a visa yet
every feed back is very appreciated and I would share my experience with you
about that question I think no matter what you applied for they can still change their mind on the border but you could apply for extension
thanks
