Super Visa - Repeat XRay and Sputum Tests

Hi, my dad applied for super visa last May 2019. Received medical request in June 2019.

He just completed the 3 sputum tests for 3 days in a row and yesterday he was advised to come back for an x-ray on September 2019.

He was told by the physician that his results are okay but its the immigration's requirement to have those tests.

Does anyone here have the similar situation? Can please share what happened. Getting worried now...

Standard process to have a repeat x-ray 3 months later. There is nothing to do but wait.

Is that the SOP now for all super visa application? To have a repeat x-ray for all applicants.

Or was it just for applicants with possible TB?

Not standard, only for those showing signs of TB.

Sputum takes time to grow bacteria or fungus that’s why they need the 3 months. Your dad likely had some irregularity on his lung which could indicate numerous things and likely nothing. They will compare the x-ray in 3 months to see if the irregularity is still there and the same size and shape. If that is the case it is usually scar tissue. Canada has relatively low TB rates except in their homeless, Indigenous population who live on reserves and refugees. Canada would like to keep their TB levels low so are very strict about examining people from countries where TB is common.
