Super Visa rejected on the basis of "Contravening conditions."

Hello,
My biological mothers' super visa has been rejected, the CIC forms list the following reasons:

1. travel history
2. any history of contravening the conditions of admission on a previous stay in Canada
3. I am not satisfied you have demonstrated strong socio-economic establishment in your current country of residence and/or country of citizenship.

She was actually living in Canada for years when she was married to my father, they both eventually divorced and I think her status was null and void as a result but I could be wrong. She also had some issues with her Pakistani passport. She's schizophrenic and I don't know her very well, but based on the CIC forms returned it appears she may have broken a law as well, probably related to immigration. I've been told it was due to a lack of status in Canada.
I'm trying to help her out, as she really has no family willing to take her in the country of origin. Frankly, there's not much help for the elderly or for those who fall ill here either. I along with my siblings are all Canadian citizens, we applied for a Super Visa instead of sponsorship because we were hoping the process would be quicker.
Can we appeal the decision? The issue is we have no clue as to what rules she broke, as it hasn't been stipulated on the CIC forms. She claims she was deported on a false basis, unfortunately, we don't have the full details otherwise we'd simply approach a lawyer. She doesn't have all of her deportation forms either..
Would love to get some advice, she's sick and I'd really love to do something for her. She seems like a decent person just made some mistakes in the past.
