Submitting passport in another country after visit approval

Hello Guys,

I need your urgent support in this topic.

I am a Romanian national living in Qatar. I got my visit visa approved and asked to send in the passport. I had applied Online and stated that the country of visa handling is the same as my residence.

I work in Aviation and cannot leave my passport for long (5-7 bus. Days process). I asked the office which deals with the embassy here if I can submit by hand or use any other country. The lady said you can submit to the Bahrain or UAE offices as they process faster. But she bad no info on other country possibilities.

Now I will be in the United States for 10 days and wondering if it is possible to use the Canadian consulate in New York as an alternative. That would allow me to head to Canada from New york.

Hope someone can respond to this complexity.

Exactly in same situation, checked with Canadian consulates in Home country and USA, they both said we can send passport in USA for visa stamping. But 10 days is not enough time for completing the process. Even on the VAC (Agency handling various consular services for Canadian Consulates in USA) website, they mention 15 Business days processing time for passport delivery of e-applications.

Its Horrible and so hostile Tara.

I called and sent an email to ask, to no availability.

Romanian embassy just told me 3 business days as well.

Atleast now I know from you it's 15 days. So for me 25 days application, 15 business days for visa stamping all for a 7 day trip....
