Hello Everyone,

I have few questions to ask and very important ones.

My friend from India took up a program in a community college but after 1semester she is not satisfied with her choice of program and wishes to change it.

Unluckily, admission for September intake is closed and now she is left with a choice of private college "Oxford College in Scarborough" so the question is

will this be a risky move?
what is the guarantee of getting a post graduate work permit?
There have been cases where private college degree holders were denied work permit.
Is there any option to wait and work around it?
Should she wait for the may 2018 intakes in community college?
Can international students take a study gap?
How will a change of program affect her work permit application?

Any response, suggestions, experiences would help my friend a lot.

Thank you.

Stay away from private colleges. Very high chance she won't qualify for a PGWP if she attends a private college. If she wants to guarantee she will qualify for a PGWP - she needs to stick with public colleges and universities. Additionally, if she drops out of school for more than 90 days her study permit will be automatically canceled. If it's too late to be admitted into any public college, her best option is to attend a private college for one semester to avoid having her study permit canceled and then to switch to a public college for January 2018.

Thank you so much for your response, appreciate it a lot.

If she continues another semester in the same college and then joins a different college for a new program in May 2018 would it affect her work permit application?

Yes - that certainly works. Make sure she remains a full time student.
