Study/Work remotely for a US University while on a visitor visa in Canada

I haven't been able to find an answer for this anywhere, so I hope someone here can help me.

If I am on a visitor visa in Canada am I allowed to be a REMOTE graduate research assistant ( and a student taking classes) for my US University? I get paid for it in a US bank and the work has literally no connection to Canada except that I'm physically here.

I don't even know if this is considered work or study or both and googling it just gives me things about international students in Canada ( studying in a Canadian university).

My University wants proof that it's okay for me to be in Canada, otherwise they would force me to be in US and I don't want that as I have family here and no one in US.

Any links of official websites or other reliable sources I can use as a proof that it's okay (assuming it's okay)?
Thank you in advance!

In terms of working, based on the information you've provided, you are fine. You would need to make sure the research work you are doing in the U.S. has nothing to do with Canada. Based on what you've said, it meets that criteria.

You are fine to study in Canada remotely as a visitor. Canada doesn't care. It's only if you want to study at a school in Canada where a study permit comes into play.

I am personally not aware of any official web sites that spell this out super clearly. Hopefully someone else is.
