I am a high school student (American by birth) looking to study in Canada. Around two months ago, I submitted an application for a study permit, however, it was refused. The main reason they gave was that they were worried about my family ties in Canada, as my brother and my mother had both immigrated to Canada around a decade back. I never immigrated because my parents are divorced and the custody lies with my dad, who is Chinese. I reapplied around two weeks ago, with extra documents from the school I was accepted into and more information on my father's finances, and I have not received a reply back yet (which is to be expected). Recently, I have discovered that I am eligible to apply for a study permit at the Port of Entry because I am an American citizen. I asked officers at the border if I could do this, and they told me that since I had an application already in the works, they wanted to hear back from the other people first. School has already started, and I had withdrawn from my previous school already, so I'm really in a hurry. The option I'm looking at right now is to cancel my online application and just apply at the border, but I'm worried that this will raise extra questions and hurt my credibility. Suggestions?
