See you need to be employed, otherwise it is a red flag.

Thanks for your input. I had mentioned it in the SOP letter that I was on maternity break and applying for Study permit to restart my proffesional career after the intermittent breaks.
maternity break cant be the reason. I am certain visa officers do not even read SOPs. Order GCMS notes, Get employed, and write a good SOP or may change the program to an MBA or something.

1 year programs usually have a high rejection rate.

I have applied for GCMS notes.

Meanwhile, I am thinking of re-applying under SDS category only for myself as a single applicant. Hence, looking for expert advise from the forum members.

it wont make a difference. Your profile gives a vibe of a potential immigrant due to no job back home. And how is the program related to what you have been doing? how will this help your career?

The questions you must answer if reapplying is how will a one year program after a Masters, “kick start” your career and why must you come to Canada to take this one year course. It makes no sense to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a CanadIan program in business analysis when you have a masters of commerce. What better job opportunities will you have in your home country? How much more will you make to justify the costs? Your profile looks like you want to immigrate but don’t have enough CRS points.

I had the below excerpt from the SOP. Not sure if this was adequate or convincing.

"I would now like to resume my career. Hence, I am taking up a 1-year Course on Business Analysis and Professional Communication from MacEwan University, Edmonton. The primary reason I selected this course is that the curriculum is in line with the industry standards. In addition, as I was a Functional Consultant earlier, I believe that this course would help me utilize my experience, enhance my knowledge, and would help to transition into a Business Analyst.

I chose MacEwan University, Edmonton, as their Business Analysis course topics closely align with my expectations, and I prefer Edmonton to minimize my living expenses."

yeah nobody will read that. They are using an AI tool that assigns weight to your profile, not just your SOP. TIes back home, employment opportunities, school, courses all play a role. It is like a neural network.

Could you please elaborate? Like should I address ties back home and about employment opportunities after the course in India - So as to increase the weightage of my profile ?

Yes. Most importantly you should be employed already and the course should look like an extension to what you have already been doing. Don't try to justify in the SOP, IRCC officials encounter 100s of sop like yours every day(i honestly dont think they read SOPs). An MBA suits you better in my opinion. Apply to UNB for MBA. All the best!!!
