Study Permit...proof of financial support?

Hi fellow immigrants,

I recently got a letter of acceptance of a University in Canada to start studies in fall 2015. Now I guess it's time to apply for a Study Permit.

Well, I went to the website of Immigration Canada and read that there is a lot of paperwork to complete. For example, I have to send documents indicating that I have enough money/ financial support. I myself don't have that but my parents will support me and my father will pay tuition.

Is it enough "proof" if my father just writes a letter (in English of course) where he states that he is able to and will support me financially? He said that it will be enough but I think that the Immigration Officers want to see more proof? I mean, everyone could wirte something like that.

What do you think? Is it enough or not?

(And another question: Is it true that not everyone needs a medical examination for the Study Permit? How about German citizen? I really don't know if I need it?)

I would be glad if you can help me with at least one of my questions.

Thanks ;D

mead, thank you for your reply but I went to this site before. Yes I know, it says that a letter of someone who will support me is one option to prove it.

But is it also really enough? I want to be 100% sure because I don't want my visa to be refused...

I'm going through a similar process and am in a similar situation (my fiance is supporting me over here). I've heard mixed answers myself, and which is completely true I'm not sure. It may just depend on the particular officer sometimes (if you're on a margin) if they want to be kind - I've spoken to immigration officers in person and have heard slightly different "margins" from a couple of them.

What I do know is that you need to prove you have a minimum of the first years tuition plus $10,000 per year of your stay for room/board. I'd say it might be a good idea to have the funds transferred into your own account, it has more standing when the money is attached to your own name. Other than that, prove as much as you can in terms of assets. Good luck.

Hi, I have completed my bachelors and hold 3 yrs of experience as a fund accountant in a MNC bank in India. My IELTS is 7 not less then 6 in each. I got the offer for Pg diploma in global business management from Centennial for may intake. I paid my GIC of $10,000 and 1st term fee of $7500. I applied for a bank loan and it takes times for approval(may be more then a month). I want to apply for Visa now. In this case, what are the financial documents i can submit to satisfy the officer. Me and my Dad(Govt.employee) have 3 years of ITR and I can show 7 lakhs cash at bank. The house that we live is the only property we have :-(

You need to show your father's bank certificate and bank statements saying he has enough to support you. You can't convince the embassy on a letter alone as you said yourself, anyone can write a guarantee.

As for the medical exam, here's the relevant link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-temp.asp

Hi there,

For the proof of financial support, your dad has to write a sponsorship letter indicating he will be supporting you throught your stay in canada including the tuition fee, plus you will need his bank account statement for the past 3 - 6 months showing he has the sufficient fund and also a letter from bank certifying your dad's account with available balance.

It is vital to mention that, the balance of your dad's account should not go below what is required (your tuition fee for first year + 1 year expenses ( sometimes 10,000$, 14,000$ - depends on where you study + transportation costs.) from past 3-6 months.

In case if you provide the source of fund of your dad i.e. business documents, salary payslips, contracts, ...etc, it will help you out in clarification. Sometimes, they ask for clarification of source of funds.

For your medical examination, I would suggest to do it, its not really a fixed procedure since it changes based on VACs. to be on the safe side, I recommend doing it.

Hope the info helps you out.
~ Cheers.

Hope it helps,

tipsy

For proof of funds:
Undertaking letter is accepted from anybody who will sponsor you as long as they can prove that they have sufficient funds to support you. Example of proof of funds from your sponsor is bank statement for a certain period like min of 4 mos, land titles, etc.

For Medical:
With regardless of your nationality, it is where you have lived or travelled for six months in a country or territory listed below in the year before you come to Canada.

Hope I had helped u. Good Luck

If i get educational loan for my total years of study in Canada, do i still need to show bank balance, IT returns and CA certificate?

My consultant told me to arrange these documents after i am getting loan also. Is it necessary?

And even consultant telling me to get GIC for applying under General Category?
