Study Permit Online Application - Received passport request

Hi,

Below are my details. I applied for Study Permit for myself and a Temporary Resident Visa for my wife.
Both of us are Indians. I received an email on Aug 4 asking us to submit our passports.

Category........: University - Full funding McMaster University PhD
App. Filed.......: 08 July 2014, Online
Med's Done....: 04 July 2014
Passport Request..: 04 August 2014

I submitted both our passports through VFS, Bombay yesterday.

The letter says the following.

"
A decision has been made on your application. We require your passport to finalize processing your application.

Passport requirements
• Please provide your passport or travel document, with a copy of this letter.
• There must be at least one blank page in your passport.
• Your passport must be valid for the duration of your expected length of stay in Canada.
• Please note that we cannot issue a visa beyond the expiry date on the passport.

"

I guess this implies we've got the visa?
Can someone please confirm?

Also, strangely, on the application page it says, "Not started". From what I've read on these forums, CIC does not always update this page. Views here?

i am also going to mcmaster. i have applied for student visa on 11th july. still no response. how long did it take for ur application to get processed?

Don't worry about the status, they only change it once they release your visa. According to the pattern, if they request your passport, you will get your visa. Before releasing your passport, you should also get an update on your myCIC which would state that your's and your wife's application has been approved. Just make sure you get a POE letter of introduction along with your approval letter. If it's not provided, they sometimes send it along with the passport. If it's not delivered, contact the CHC via email.
