Study Permit - Minor Age 9 Yr Old

Hi. I am new to this forum.

I have Canada work permit and submitted the Study Permit application for my child age 9 yrs on Feb 25, 2019. Current status are as follows:

Review of eligibility - Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.
Review of medical results - You passed the medical exam.
Review of additional documents - We do not need additional documents.
Interview - You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics - We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check - Not applicable.
Final decision - Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Need help to understand how much time required with this stage?

Your child doesn't need a study permit for elementary or secondary school. They can attend as a visitor as long you their parent has a valid work or study permit.

As per link below, a minor children who want to study for six months or more must apply for a study permit before they enter Canada. This includes minor children who come with parents who had a study or work permit approved overseas.

And same has been suggested by VFS as well. Please suggest.

But in this case as I already applied under Study Permit category, do they still allows the application to move on. Also does it affects the approval process as my case hanged on Review of eligibility step.

You can also apply for a study permit it is just more complicated. No harm done. If you are working in NOC 0, A or B and have the funds to support your child yes you have a good chance of approval.
