Hi,

I have a couple of questions. My friend from the U.S has been accepted to a canadian university. He is applying for thr stafford loan and the parent plus loan and we are willing to give free room and borad and transport for the duration of his studies. we are just wondering how we should prove this on his visa application because in his bank he has very little money right now and we don't want that to be a factor as he has supports here in canada to study. suggestions would be helpful or guidence. his mom also has very little money, but can take out the parent plus loan for him.

I also wanted to add that the program he wants to do is 5 years it's engieering well 6 because of a pre-engieering year will a study permit be granted for that long? he will also need to apply for a work permit becuase there are outside work forms.

I would recommend that you write a letter confirming your offer to him of free room, board and transportation and you may need to prove that you can afford to do this by confirming your employment in Canada. He will need to provide proof of income and will (according to my CIC friends) have to prove that he has been offered the loans for his education. Has he received a letter confirming his loan application has been approved? This would be proof of income.

He may be able to get a Study Permit for the duration but the longest I have ever seen a Permit issued for is 3 years.

This is my first time in here. I am going to study in Vancouver. Does somebody know how long the study permit takes to be issue in the canadian consulate and also if somebody knows a good representative who can help me with the application? Thank you for your help
