Hello everyone,
2 months ago I came in Canada as a business visitor meaning that I can stay here for no more than 6 months and cannot work. At the same time, my spouse lives and works here in Canada on a PGWP. Also, I was recently accepted at a PhD program in a Canadian university and now I would like to apply for a study permit from within Canada.
I know that generally speaking a person can apply for a study permit only from their home country. However, when I was checking my eligibility on CIC, when I answered that I am a "spouse of a person who holds a Work Permit for a job in National Occupation Classification O, A, B", I received a result that I may be eligible to extend my stay in Canada as a student from within Canada.
Is it true or not?
If it is true, should my spouse work, or the fact that she holds a valid post-graduate work permit is enough?
I would really appreciate if you can help me with this question.
