Hi there,

I want to apply for a graduate certificate program as an International Student from Pakistan.

Graduate certificate usually spans of two terms (8 months) + One term optional Co-Op. For Co-op institutions have their own eligibility, such as passing all courses in first semester, etc., which means that you’re not certain that you’ll be getting an opportunity for co-op, at the time of applying for Visa. Consequently, what I am assuming is that study permit granted to me will be for 8 months, in order to pursue the taught courses only.

On the other hand, once you are eligible for co-op, you need a co-op work permit which can only be given to you if you have a valid study permit.

Since I’ll be short on study permit, I would have to apply for study permit extension and co-op work permit at the same time in order to cater the third term, which is co-op.

Is that how it works? Or is there any other mechanism?

Would appreciate if some expert can help.
