Dear All,

I am a Canadin PR and looking forward to apply for a Canadian student permit for my minor nephew, who studies in the 6th Standard in India.

  • He is around 12 years old. I want him to pursue his education here in Canada. Is it possible?

Do we need to get the permission from some local school first before filing for his Application?

Is there any minimum financial requirement on my part to fulfill in order for him to live with me and complete his High school here.

I read somewhere that a Study permit is often for One year Only, so we'll have to renew it every year till he Graduates from here?

Thanks for kind replies....

1. It is possible, but expensive. International rates for middle school students are about $13, 000 per year in Vancouver.
2. You would also have to be appointed as his guardian as he is a minor.
3. The study permit can be for longer than a year.
4. Either you or his parents is going to have show $10K for the first year's living expenses.
5. You need a letter of acceptance from the local school board not the school.
