Hi
I came to Canada 2 years ago to pursue my MSc studies at SFU. My study permit was valid till Sept 2nd, 2016. On July 2016, I applied for study permit extension, saying that I need more time to finish my MSc studies, and based on confirmation of enrollment from SFU, asking for 2 years study permit extension till August 2018.
Now I defended my MSc, and have a PhD admission from a different university starting from Jan 2017. There is an options in my CIC account says "transfer Designated Learning Institute". My study permit extension application is still in process.
My question is: if I get my study permit extension for two years, can I begin my PhD studies with it considering the fact that I said I need this extension for my MSc studies?
And do I need to use transfer Designated Learning Institute now that my application is in process or after it has been accepted?

Thank you.

You will have to check the 'Name of Institution' on your renewed permit. If it's 'any school', you are good to go.
