Hi,

I am applying for an initial study permit INSIDE Canada as I am currently hold a valid work permit. However, I am planning to travel in September when my work permit expires. Does anyone have any experience of how CIC issues the study permit if you are outside of the country?

Any details would be extremely helpful!

your question is not clear.I am in same situation change of status from OWP to SP

1. Have you already applied for change of status online from within canada?
2. If yes it is better to travel AFTER its approved and received. Because applying from Canada implies your stay here, and there might be questions at the port of entry when you return. CIC website the following answer

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=190&t=17

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=527&t=16

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=475&t=15

3.If no, you have two options. You can either apply online from here, wait for it to be approved then trravel. Or else you can also apply for Study permit from Outside Canada(from your home country) . In that case it will processed like any other applicant, you may have to personally go to consulate for stamping etc, and the processing time varies depending upon the country.

4. Are you planning to start your Studies this fall?

I'm in the same situation. Going from PGWP to SP. I've been accepted into a program for this fall. I'm afraid that it might arrive after my classes start. My PGWP expires in a few weeks. What are my options?
