I recently completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Philosophy at Memorial University, having attended the program from the September 2023 Fall intake to June 2024. I have now been accepted into the Master’s program in Philosophy at the same university, and I have already registered for the courses, which are set to begin in September 2024.
When I first arrived in Canada, I received a study permit valid from September 2023 to December 2024. I am now uncertain whether I need to apply for a new study permit for my upcoming Master’s program or if I should apply for an extension of my current study permit. Additionally, I would like to confirm if I am allowed to start my Master’s program with my current study permit, given that it expires in December 2024. I plan to apply for an extension, but I want to ensure I am following the correct procedure, especially since some of the new policies have left me a bit confused.
I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this matter so that I can ensure I am in compliance with all regulations.
