Study permit extension doubts- help please

Hi.. I am going to Fanshawe college in london, ontario. I came here on sep 2012 for a one year post graduate diploma with a one year visa. But after coming to the college , I felt that the course was not good . so, i changed my course . I got into a 2 year diploma programme. Since this is Feb now, i have almost completed 6 months. I want to apply for an off campus work permit . I have a one year visa which will expire on july 2013 (since i came here for a one year programme). So, if i apply for off campus work permit now, will i get work permit only till the period my study permit expires? . If i want to extend my visa and study permit, what is the procedure? when is the best time to do it? . I have 4 months summer vacation after april. can i apply for study permit extension during that time? I was told that I need to show bank statements. How much money should I show in my account?

Yes they will give you OCWP till your study permit expiry date.
So it is just wasting money.
Apply for Study permit extension first. And i heard [Not so sure] that you can apply for OCWP with study permit extension.

You're still left with 1 year studies. So show around 5-6k.
And don't forget to attach transcripts of last 2 terms and Letter of acceptance from college.

I am just confused about one thing. Since I am just extending my visa and study permit and not taking a new course, Some people say that Its enough if I show $1000 or 2000 in my bank. Is it true ?

I showed around 7000 for my extension.
CIC website says - Show at least 1 year.
But some people get extension with 2000 also.

But my opinion. - Better ask your friends to borrow you money for 1 day. After getting statement return them back.

Thank you for your reply. I still have one more doubt. I checked the cic website for a checklist to extend study permit. It says 'proof of funds' . Is that the bank loan I got for one year? . Do i need a new loan letter since the previous one was only for two semesters and it's already over ?

1. Apply for an OCWP and SP together.
2. For an OCWP, you need an EVN. It's your responsibility, contact DIR of first school to transfer EVN (if you are eligible) to new school's DIR otherwise wait for 6 more months.

Congrats on that!!
Even I've decided to pursue another 1yr course aftr the 1st one.
Now will I have difficulties in convincing the VO again with a new SOP OR is just sufficient to show proof of funds & LOA.
The 2nd course tht I'll pursue will definitely be related to 1st though.
