Study permit extension and PGWP

Hi everyone,
I applied for study permit extension in March 2020 and my study permit expired in May. I will be done with my degree on August 31st. If I don't receive any updates on my application by September 1st week, I was thinking of applying for the PGWP on implied status. Should I be applying for a restoration + PGWP or just a PGWP? If I do need to apply for restoration, will paying the restoration fees be enough? I am super confused because under a restoration I would be asking to restore my status as a student, which I no longer will be. I will also not be able to submit a LOA or enrollment letter for the restoration since I am no longer in school. Will I also have to provide proof of funds?
I spoke with an IRCC agent and they told me it would be a restoration, however, I have seen people on this thread just applying with a PGWP.
Kindly advice about my situation.

Just a PGWP; restoration would be if you were out of status, which you are not since you have implied status on your SP extension. However you will not be able to work until your PGWP arrives, even part-time.

Another view, suggested by couple of IRCC agents- it's best to apply for restoration too (as a student) and explain everything- they told that the restoration amount will be refunded later- which is totally ridiculous as there is no coordination between different departments as the student is making the PGWP under implied status is not because of their fault and everyone is in cash crunch now (they didn't respond when I asked this).
You gotta make a decision considering all opinions. If I didn't receive the SP extension today, I would have made the PGWP app along with restoration plus visitor extension and whatever they want (that's just me).

Thank you for your suggestion! For the restoration, will I have to provide a proof of funds again?
Also, I remember you mentioned on another thread here that you knew a few people who applied for an extension in Feb and March. Did any of the other Feb applicants get approvals or any updates (eligibility review) yet as well?

Yes, POF is required but I don't think they are gonna be strict about that since technically you are applying for PGWP which doesn't require any minimum stated POF.
No one I know got their permits approved as of now and that's kind of a twist because usually those guys permits gets approved fast and mine always takes longer to get approved (don't know but my insight is their system flags my profile and they do many more checks and supervisor reviews).

It's a grey area. Is implied status valid status after graduation if you are not continuing education and what happens to that status? Inferring from the forum posts, some people paid the restoration and some didn't while applying PGWP on implied status and both sorts of people seems to get their permits (SP + PGWP) approved simultaneously.

Another story: I had multiple opportunities to update my VISA which would have given me chances to submit my biometrics. I wanted to save some money and apply for the VISA after getting PGWP because I was thinking I was not leaving anywhere (which I was not but the advantage was that their system would also have my biometrics data too). If I somehow updated my VISA after getting my previous SP extension, I might have gotten my current SP extension much faster and not have to go through hell. The point is I would pay any amount not be in a crack and helpless situation. Never Again!
