Study Permit Expression from abroad during COVID 19 time

- I am studying in a masters program as an international student.
- Since the outbreak of COVID, I returned to my home country and attending classes from home online
- My problem is, my study permit will expire in 1st week of April but my semester will continue till 15 April
- I am planning to attend the Spring/Summer semester from my home country as the classes will remain online

My question is:

1. As I am attending the classes online, will it be an issue that my study permit will expire before the semester ends.
2. As I will remain in my home country, will it be absolutely essential to extend my study permit before I return back to Canada?
3. Will the extension process be same as the process of extending from within Canada?

It would be best if you were extending your study permit like a while ago. Most study permits do expire before the semester ends.

If you don't extend, you won't be able to come back to Canada as you will be out of status.

An extension can be longer, even when in Canada.
