Study Permit Denied

Good Morning,

Seeking and feedback or advise as my study permit was rejected for the following reasons:

1. You have not satisfied that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay, as a result of the following:
a. family ties in Canada and in country of residence
b. purpose of visit
c. current employment situation

2. Other reason - have failed to satisfy that the intention to study in Canada is reasonable based on the high cost of international study in Canada, weighed against the potential career/employment benefits and the local options available for similar studies.

I have a first degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Human Resource Development. I applied to do an accounting diploma as I would like to do Compensation and Benefits Management. I am at a lost as to the reasons given for the denial of the permit, any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I would like to re-apply as they said that I could if i could demonstration that my situation meets the requirements.

thanks.

A diploma is a lower level of education than a bachelors - so it doesn't really make sense for you to be taking a diploma after both a bachelor and masters. This is most likely one of the main reasons why the officer refused you. At a minimum, you should be applying for a post graduate diploma.

I wanted the accounting certification for to specifically go into compensation and benefits management - not sure what to do- as I don't have that qualification.

Yes but if it's just that, then what benefit do you gain out of doing this diploma from Canada specifically and not from your country of residence? Why can't you do a similar course there and want to specifically do THAT course, from THAT university/college in Canada?

The answer to these questions was probably what the VO did not find convincing

I wanted to complete the accounting diploma as a supplement to my degrees - to get my certification as a CPA and my Human Resource Designation as well. It helps job mobility when you have international certifications which are not currently offered locally in country.

I am not sure what the issue would be with my current employment - I am still employed. Currently, based on my job function I am not utilizing my masters degree, because I cant get no experience in that field as yet - even though I have completed my masters two years ago. I am still being paid at first degree level and only getting first degree level type jobs.

If I were to change course to something else that is not offered in my country, that also includes accounting, would this look suspicious to VO and could I reapply for possible consideration for September intake still? It would cost a little more but I am able to afford same.

Can anyone give any update as to how to go about re-applying for the study permit, would I have to submit all documentation over again, or provide proof for the reasons for which the permit was denied.

Still in limbo so any advise would be greatly appreciated. I got in touch with the college and have switch my area of study. I have been granted acceptance to the program, would this be treated as a new application.

Scylla has just rightly pointed out the reason for your denial. We have seen loads of such cases on these forums. You applied for a diploma which is lower than a bachelors. You dont go back to grade 5 after you finish grade 7 do you? its the same logic here. You need to pick a second masters or phd at a university or the bare minimum could be a pg diploma. Good luck

You submit a brand new application providing all of the same documentation and fees over again.
