Hi everyone,

I’m in a bit of a stressful situation and could really use some advice or insights from those who have been through this process.

I applied for a study permit to Canada 31 days ago (November 8, 2024), and the processing time for my country of residence is listed as 5 weeks. My application is complete and my funds are fully shown for all years of study, all documents were submitted correctly, and there’s no issue on my end. However, I still haven’t received a medical request or any other updates.

The problem is that my classes are set to begin in just 28 days (January 6, 2025), and I’m starting to panic. I’ve been checking my email obsessively, but there’s been no word from IRCC. I know there’s not much I can do right now other than wait, but I’m really worried. What if I don’t get the medical request in time? What if there’s a delay?

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How long did it take for you to get the medical request and final approval after applying? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated—I'm just hoping to get some peace of mind before the deadline hits.

Thank you so much!

You need to contact school and ask what is last day that you can start classes and process to defer. You not only need medical request but take into account days for passport stamping with the holidays. If you defer, then take upfront medical and add through webform.

5 weeks is just an estimated average and often takes much longer.
