Study permit and CO-OP work permit together, hows that possible?

Dear All,

There is a co-op work term in my course. The college says it is highly recommended to apply for the co-op work permit together with the study permit because the process will be longer if we apply from Canada.

The problem is that applying together is not possible because a valid study permit is needed for applying a coop work permit?

How can I manage this?

Anybody has experience or any information?

I got my Co-Op work permit along with my study permit. I didn't do anything differently, but when I got my passport back two letters were there, one for Study Permit and the other one for Co-OP Work.

Thank you netchaos. So that means I dont have to do anything. Just by seeing my Letter of Acceptance the visa officer will issue me co-op work permit, right?

I don't think this is always the case.
I have met students in Co-Op programs, who came without work permit and had to apply after reaching here.
So it depends on the visa officer.

On your LOA is it mentioned that you are in a Co-Op program ?

Thank you very much Netchaos. Yes, it is mentioned in LOA that there is a CO-OP in my program. Do you know, is this difficult to get a co-op work permit within Canada. The college says it is a long process. My co-op term is the second semester. that means after first 4 months co-op will start? Do you think that 4 months enough to get Co-op work permit?

One morething, will we be paid during CO_OP term?

I also have a mandatory coop second term. I have just got my visa stamped in the passport. The letter that came with it says that I am entitled to study or work in Canada. I did not receive 2 different letters. So does that mean that I will be given both study as well as coop work permit at immigration with this letter? Anyone else in the same boat as me?

I havent got Co-OP work permit.

No need to worry, we can apply for CO_OP work permit once we land in Canada. Colleges just prefer to apply it from our country because the processing will be faster. If we apply from Canada it may take a bit longer but there are no issues.

there is only one letter of introduction and you get study permit and co-op permit at the immigration, Canada/
