Study on PGWP more than 6 months what can be done now ?

A friend of mine who is on a PGWP enrolled in a course (unaware of the Work permit restrictions) which is more than 6 months and also has a COOP. Before the COOP was about to start the institute informed him of the restrictions on his Work permit.
What can be the best thing that can be done right now fix this ? Has anyone been in a similar boat ?

You can’t be on both that is a big no-no and is very clear. He needs a study permit and co-op permit to continue with the program. So he needs to apply for the study/co-op permit and cancel his PGWP if he wants to continue with the program.
