Students can work New Rule of CIC

Hey guys, i have heard that CIC did a new rule on last first of June saying that international students dont need a working permit to work anymore...
And i have friends that went to Service Canada and got their Social Insurance Number just with the student permit which says allowed to work on-campus. Even tho SHE IS in a ESL SCHOOL and not in a POST-SECONDARY School.

My questions is the following :

I am in a ESL SCHOOL in Toronto if i go get the SIN from Service Canada ( actually gonna renew it i did it before but never used it and it got expired) does it mean i can take a job off campus aswell for 20 hours a week^????????

Students attending ESL programs generally do not qualify for off campus work permits under the new program. So the answer to your question is most likely no.

What is the name of the school? Do you have a study permit? Are you in school full time? How long is your program?

Ok so basically i was in ESL School lastyear with English programm for 9 months...and when i finished my course in June my study permit had still 3 months even tho i finished my ESL so i applied for SIN and got it and i applied for off-campus and had it too untill my study visa ends...
|Then i extented my stay as a student again with Hansa Language center and im engaged for a full-time Executive English programm of 36 weeks and 20 hours per week

Should i answer Yes ? Even tho im gonna take part of business class in Hansa for 36 weeks.

New rules that will reduce the potential for fraud or misuse of the program while protecting Canada’s international reputation for high-quality education and improving services to genuine students will come into force on June 1, 2014. The new rules will:

limit the issuance of study permits to applicants who will be studying at a designated learning institution, including institutions that are designated by provinces and territories on the basis of meeting minimum standards;
require students to actively pursue their studies while in Canada; and
allow full-time international students enrolled at designated institutions in certain programs to work part time off campus and full time during scheduled school breaks without a work permit.


Does it mean that if i get my SIN again i wont have to apply for an off-campus regarding to the new rules ?

I'm not sure your school meets the criteria for you to qualify to work off campus without a work permit.

It's probably far too late to join another school (e.g. like a public college). However you can certainly contact them and ask.

I mean to join a college/university for the semester January/ and cancel the one im going to now.
