Student who is now in maternity leave-status??

Hello there.
Thank you very much for being here. I am currently a grad student and my status as a student is valid until 2019. However, I am under maternity leave since September 2016. I am planning to stay in Canada during my maternity leave (( a year)). I am sure that I have to apply to something called "A VISITOR RECORD" to change the condition from student to something else!!
1- what is the application number? IMM---??
2-can I apply online?

Just for clarification back in 9/2015 you said you were applying for PR through your Canadian Citizen husband/ With 12 months gone is that application not near completion as opposed to moving to visitor status. How does the latter work with any health care coverage as a visitor through to and post the birth in Canada ?

Temporary resident refers to students, workers and visitors, so yes, you are a temporary resident.

Thank you very muxh. What confuses me is the link you sent is for application IMM5708, which as i mentioned before for temorary residence. However, application IMM5079 says
Use this application if you are a temporary resident who is already in Canada as ***a student*** and you want to.....


So, because of that, I am really confused on which fourn to fill out

IMM5708 is to change conditions or extend your stay as a visitor. IMM5079 is to extend a study permit.

You need to change the conditions of your stay to visitor, so you require the visitor app.
