Hi,

I have a couple of questions hoping for some guidance.

Theres a possibility I will get married to someone in India. However she is also considering getting a student visa.

1. If she gets a student Visa and we get married here, how long is thr processing time for spousal sponsorship ie to get her PR. Is it any different from what it would be if she was not here on a student visa?

2. If she doesnt get a student visa, it a good idea for her to get a visitor visa before the spouse sponsorship application is in place so she can visit while the application is in process . And is it likely she can get a visitor AFTER the spouse sponsorship is already in place or is it better to get it before? And finally; does hacving a visitor visa affect the spousal application in anyway?

1. The process will be shorter if she uses the outland / outside of Canada process - longer if she uses the inland / within Canada process. She can apply outland while in Canada.
2. Higher chances of the visitor visa being approved if she applies before the spousal sponsorship application is in place. A visitor visa won't affect the spousal sponsorship process.

Hi Scylla

Thanks a lot for the reply.

Lets say she's here on a student visa and we get married and go for outland while shes studying here, is the processing time for an outland application any different if shes staying in Canada vs outside of Canada.

Secondly, if shes in Canada, is the choice between inland/outland just a matter of choosing one or are there any criteria that need to be met?
