Hi guys,

My study permit was approved and I just collected my passport with the visa stamp. My name on the visa stamp does not match my name on the passport, the last charcter of my last name is missing. Note that my full name is too long (35 characters) and not sure if they ran out of space so they left out the last character or its just a mistake. Also my name is my other documents issued by ircc like medical request, biomateric validy letter, and introduction letter dont have this issue.
Will the name mismatch on the visa stamp be an issue at the point of entry ? If so what can i do to fix it ?

Hi there,
I also have the same issue. I just collected mine and my last digit is missing. All other docs have my name correctly addressed. Could you tell me what I need to do?

You don't have to do anything; they have a limit on the characters in the visa stamp. However, according to what happened to me, your name in the IRCC system would be complete, and when you get your Study permit in the Airport upon arrival, you will see that it's complete.

You have nothing to worry about as long as you have written your name correctly in your Visa Application.

I recently got my passport back and It had the study visa stamped on it, but the visa had my old name (Aryan). I traveled to Canada last year as well and at that time my name was 'Aryan'. But I changed my name to 'Aryan Shukla' this year before applying for Study Visa. I checked my documents that I submitted and all of them were with my new name (Aryan Shukla).

My passport request letter initially had my old name, 'Aryan', but I raised a webform and after a month and half they gave me a new passport request letter with my new and correct name, 'Aryan Shukla'. Even after this the IRCC made the mistake in my visa. What should I do here?

Can I travel to Canada with the current visa (without surname) on my passport (with surname)? It is very urgent as I am traveling in a month. I have already raised a webform, but I am so confused as to what to do, Can I travel? I do not want to take a risk of leaving my job here and traveling to the airport only to be denied entry and return home.

Please help me, I would be very immensely grateful for any help

I cant tell you for sure. My case was slightly different from yours, the missing character in my last name on the visa stamp was due my naming being too long and in the system they actually have the complete name, its just that on the visa stamp the space was not enough so they omitted the last characters.

It could be the same for you somehow, if you are sure your name was correctly giving in all forms and documents then either its just a system issue, or an IRCC mistake and they will fix it. to confirm that you may want to try to call IRCC directly, you can google how to contact them from outside Canada.

Good luck

Thanks a lot for your quick response. Yes I am somewhat confident that the Immigration will have no problem with it, because the UCI number on my Letter of Introduction matches the one on my visa and the LoI has my full name on it (matches the passport) Basically, names match everywhere except visa.

I am more so concerned about if the flight carrier will let me board the flight. I have read a lot on google these past few days and flight carriers seems to be concerned about the names not matching on visa and passport.

Also, It's almost impossible to call IRCC, they don't even respond to emails. I don't know any other way I can deal with this situation other than just wait for them to get back to me with the response to the webform, which in my experience they've taken their sweet time (over a month).

Thanks again for your response!
