Hello seniors,

I have got PhD admission (with financial assistance for complete 3 years program) from a Canadian University for July start date.
Please advise!

Shall I apply first & start my project in Canada, then invite my wife and child (<1 year old) OR
Shall I apply for my wife and child along with my application.

Thanks for suggestions in advance.

Hi,

Along with your study permit application, your spouse & child can join you and they need to apply for TRV, but it won't be easy to secure the same. They must file their own TRV application IMM 5257.

According to official CIC website,
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how-documents.asp
You need to have minimum living expense: single student C$10,000+ + one family member $4,000+ each additional family member $3,000 (for a period of 1 year, in all other provinces except Quebec).
The more funds you have, the better it is.

In my personal opinion, it will be best..if you secure the visa first... get setteld... (shouldn't be a big problem for you..as a Phd candidate with funding)... and then invite your wife and son.

Best of Luck.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Apply all at the same time........its easier and less complicated than when you apply on their behalf from Canada.
