Hi all,

I am a FSW O applicant, Dec 2019 AOR. Following recent CEC draw, i feel IRCC is not likely to finalise my application this year,
so I am thinking if it's possible to apply for a student visa/permit to enter canada. studying actually is in my plan, but i have to bring it forward given the current situation.

couple questions if someone can help me here,
1. is this workaround feasible? anyone tried it before?
2. will my express entry application get cancelled after they approved my student permit and eTA?
3. how long does it for the study permit to be approved in covid time? eyeing on IT course with UBC. if the course is temporally delivered online, will i still be eligible to enter canada?

it's been a long waiting for some of us.....thanks for your understanding.

thanks

1. You can try. You need to show funds. Chance of rejection is high because you have Dec. 2019 AOR. The issue is that you have to show career progression in your home country and ties to your home country. A study permit is temporary. Officers will know you are not entering Canada temporarily.
2. No your EE will not be cancelled.
3. A few months. Whether you can enter will depend on Covid restrictions which keep changing. You will want a letter from the school saying you can enter, 14 day quarantine plan and pay the $2000 for the 3-day mandatory quarantine.
