Student Permit to Work Permit

Hi everybody! I hope there are people in here who can help me out.

I am wondering if students under a 2 year program in Canada (just finished the 2 semesters of her first year and has found an employer who is willing to apply for the LMIA) can shift her Student Permit to Working Permit? If so, will the change of status application be that hard to be approved even if the employer is very supportive?

Note that "willing to apply for an LMIA" is very different from "has an approved LMIA". If the employer gets a positive LMIA, you can apply.
