Hello All,

New to the Forum! I am a UK-born US citizen, currently trying to become a Canadian citizen. Because of the nature of my work, I had to renounce my UK citizenship (not sure if the UK still recognizes me as a citizen). Would it be a faster path for me reinstate my UK citizenship and try to become a citizen through commonwealth laws, or just try for Canadian citizenship by going to graduate school (on a visa) in Canada and applying via CEC?

Thanks for the help!

Right, that is no immigration class for commonwealth. You are in the same position as everybody else. If you are young, you can look into if your country of nationality has a working holiday agreement with Canada. It could help you get your foot in the door. The UK does have such a program. The US not really, I believe if you are a student, you can get a 6 month work permit. Check bunac.org
