STUDENT LOAN OR EDUCATION LOAN AS PROOF OF FUNDS

I found in the canada.ca website that student loan could be presented as proof of funds - application for student permit/ student visa.

When I mentioned this to a friend of mine in Canada, she told me that "student loan" is a big NO.

So, can anyone please help me? My only way to pay my tuition fee and housing is through student/ education loan.
