Assuming that your question means that a home company is sponsoring you for your studies ; yes you can get PGWP . It is akin to your relative sponsoring you.

But can the person still secure PR because there is an argument with my friends here that such a person is ineligible for PR.

PR depends on your experience in PGWP and it has no connection to your study permit. PGWP depends on your study permit. PR depends on PGWP . Funding from any private source be it any xyz company or your relative has no bearing on PR.
