Hi friends, I was wondering if I can apply for sponsoring my parents to Canada/Vancouver. I am a student right now with no income but my husband is working and has a good job. Will they accept it ?

If yes in this case should I write my name as the sponsor or him?

You can sponsor your parents even if you have no income but you would need a co-signer (your husband) who can meet the 3 year LICO + 30% requirement. And you can be the sponsor and your husband be the co-signer.

At the moment, you don't qualify for sponsorship as you don't have the required 3 years of income.

It doesn't matter how long he has been working. If your husband been working since 2012, assuming he met the lico + 30% for 6 months for 2012, you would have to wait until 2016 before you can qualify. The new rules now says you must meet the minimum income requirement in the previous 3 years. If your husband cannot met the minimum in 2012, but can meet the requirement in 2013, 2014, and 2015, you can apply for your parent sponsorship in 2017.

You can read about all this in the instruction guide at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5772ETOC.asp

You will also be responsible for your parents financially for the next 20 years after they get their PR so they can not take any social assistance etc., you and your husband would have to re-pay it.

On the off chance that you just want to sponsor them for a visit visa, that would not be a big deal. Just write a letter inviting them, have your husband co-sign and show proof of his income.

At the moment, since you can't qualify for parent sponsorship, you can still apply for supervisa for your parents. It is good for 10 years but they must have private medical insurance coverage before coming to Canada.

Really ? Then I shouldn't bother filling out the forms ? IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY or is it final :((((
It's final until you qualify so even though you don't qualify now, you might in a couple of years and then you can apply.

Until then, if you wish to apply for a super visa, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/supervisa-who.asp you can look into that. The income requirement is lower and as far as I know, there is no requirement of proving income for the past 3 years. A super visa is a 10 year multiple entry visit visa that would allow your parents to stay for up to 2 years at a time. They would however not be covered by health care so would need private insurance and they would not be allowed to work. If your parents are not interested in staying that long under these conditions, you can also look into applying for them for a regular multiple entry visit visa which would allow them to stay for up to 6 months at a time.

Thank you for replying ... even though it is not a good news. I was hoping I could bring my family here to live together ( sooner )
The requirements may and actually WILL change in 2016-2017 and it wouldnt get better for us applicants for sure.
