Hi there!
I got my acceptance letter to one of colleges in Canada.
Need to apply for a visa now. Just learnt that sufficient amount of money has to sit on your bank account for 3 month (minimum!). No idea why. Is it true? I am kind of desperate to submit my application for visa as soon as possible.
What is the minimum amount the embassy will be looking for? Is 25 CAD enough? I do not have them at the moment but money will be in my bank account within 2-3 weeks. My program is 2-year program.
And also, how long does it take to get a student visa if I apply at the beginning of May? I will be applying in CA embassy in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Thanks for those who replies!

Hi,

the basic requirement is, you need to have tax paid money, the amount of (minimum):

1 year tuition fees + 1 year's living expenses + both way air ticket fare in your (or your sponsor's) account for at least a period of 4 months.

I recommend you to postponed your studies to the next semester if you do not have arrangement for this.

Regards

Snake, thanks for the reply!

I just do not understand why I need to have this money for at least 4 month in my bank account? What is the reason for that?

I really keen to start my studying in September 2011.

I guess it ensures that its your own money, not that you borrowed it from other people, in fact its a general procedure visa officers liked to follow.

Do you have any fixed deposit which is 4 months older, or can your uncle/other close relatives sponsor you?

Money is not the problem in ur case, the main thing may the source of transfer by or from, u just have to declare the source and proper documents for the amounts transferred in the bank from and where and why. Is this clear enough ?

Hi Shoaib how will you declare the source by writing a statement?who should write the statement the applicant or the relative? what proper documents you should provide if its just a part if the proof of funds that was just transferred? how will you handle if the source is from a relative in canada but they are not sponsoring you they are just letting you borrow the money.

Embassy will follow some procedure to stamp Visas. They do not investigate how the money came to your account. What ever there in the Bank Statement they must consider it. So I do not think you should worry about it since the money is in your account.
