Hello!
I have been following the threads here closely for a few weeks now, thanks to everyone for sharing their timelines and other valuable information.

Finally, I made an account to ask a question that has me confused for a while.

I got admitted to an engineering masters in a University in Quebec.
Applied for the CAQ on 2nd June, waiting for it still, hopefully it will arrive in one-two weeks.

I have already satisfied all the SDS criteria except for the CAQ, will apply soon after it arrives.

I read here that the non-SDS applications are processed in the embassies instead of being sent to Canada and that folks were getting their non-SDS PPRs in 10 to 30 days
What would you folks recommend doing? I think with non-SDS the chances of getting the permit in time are higher, but according to data here at ApplyBoard, the acceptance rate for University applicants from India is lower; will satisfying all the SDS criteria concretely increase my chances for the non-SDS application?

Thanks for reading and potentially responding! I sincerely hope future years' applicants don't have to face such chaos and delays.

I would not do non SDS with this profile

Go with SDS

As for the timelines, there is no such logic. Check the posted avg processing time and go from there

Thanks a lot for your feedback!
Could you please elaborate your reasoning regarding the profile, it will be extremely helpful, since I read elsewhere that meeting SDS criteria increases chances for non-SDS as well, and that everyone should aim to meet SDS criteria.

If SDS is being processed in a first come first serve basis, I really have no hopes of getting it in time for September! They have diverted some of IRCC's resources to Service Canada as well for processing their citizens' passports, which also saw massive delays, so I don't expect a speedup, but it will be great for everyone if it occurs. At least with non-SDS I can try my luck for September given what people are saying here, given that the applications are processed here itself.

Non SDS is ideally meant for low scoring or grades with IELTS less than usual etc. With a PhD , I will not even think of non SDS

IRCC is a mess with processing. No amount of reasoning or logic works. So follow your heart if you are confident with non SDS

Else do SDS and defer if decision is not coming within time.

Indeed! I had really not expected so much chaos from these folks!

My University says that I can defer to the winter session around mid-August, so after that do I submit the fresh letter of acceptance through a webform on the same application?
